Batesville police are investigating a report that a shot was fired on Pamela Street Thursday, October 1.
“We had a report of one shot fired and an internal affairs investigation and a criminal investigation is ongoing,” Deputy Police Chief Don Province stated in a response by text message to an inquiry from The Panolian that was prompted by several reports from unofficial sources.
The shot was alleged to have been directed toward a Batesville police officer or vehicle in a domestic dispute.
Apparently no one was struck by the gunfire.
The incident is also thought to have been the object of a “police department personnel matter” during a lengthy discussion by city officials during executive session at the Tuesday, October 6 meeting of Batesville’s board of mayor and aldermen.
