Democratic Party will not use electronic poll book

Lourine Robinson, chairman of the Panola County Democratic Executive Committee released a statement about the upcoming Democratic primary in Panola County.

She said the Democrats will conduct their own primary election on August 4, which is allowed by law.

The electronic poll books that the county has purchased will not be used, according to Robison, as no training has been offered to the workers who would be using the tablets.

The Secretary of State sent out the training that for each precinct to use, Robison said.

“The Democrats are prepared to follow his plan.  Everyone that took training with the Democrats on July 6, 7, and 10 have been placed to work.  The names will not be printed in the Panolian,” she said.

If pollworkers are uncertain about where they will work, they need to call 662 934-1847.  Also, if people who trained for the Democratic primary but switched to work the Republican poll also need to call and make her aware of the change.

“The Democratic Executive Committee has worked hard to train workers for the primary,” Robison said. “We will continue to do what is right concerning the citizens of Panola county.   We have not interfered with the training that the Election Commission has done for the Republican.”
