John Luther Culbreath
COLDWATER––John Luther Culbreath, 73, died Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at his residence. He was the father of Shelia Culbreath Tubbs of Batesville.
Memorial services were held Friday at Grace Baptist Church in Coldwater.  Pate-Jones Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Survivors, along with his daughter, include: his wife, Joan Culbreath of Coldwater; daughter, Susan Culbreath Young of Olive Branch and four grandchildren.

Robert Henderson

BATESVILLE––Robert Henderson, 76, died Monday, July 6, 2015, at his residence.
Services were held Saturday at Mt. Zion Church. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Sardis.
Henderson, born Aug. 10, 1938, in Batesville, to the late Allen Henderson and Ideabelle Henderson, worked for John Deere.
Survivors include: one son, Edward Henderson of Sardis; one daughter, Diane Oliver of Jackson; six brothers, Will Henderson of Sardis, Mack Henderson, Frank Henderson and Mercy Henderson, all of Waterloo, Larry Henderson of Como and Clarance Henderson of Atlanta.

Betty McGirr
OXFORD–– Betty McGirr, 78, died Wednesday, July 8, 2015.
Graveside services will be held today at 10 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Sardis. The Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She immigrated with her family from Ireland in 1967. She settled in North Mississippi and worked as a nurse for Dr. Buddy Spencer in Sardis and Oxford until she was 72 years old.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank McGirr; and son, Terrance McGirr.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda (Charles) Davis; granddaughter, Katrina Davis; and brother, Derek (Betty) Nesbitt.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to the South Mississippi Humane Society, 2615 25th Avenue, Gulfport, MS 39501.

Edith Burgess Nichols
OAKLAND––Edith Burgess Nichols, 91, died Thursday, July 9, 2015 at her residence.
Services were held Monday at Seven Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Alan Drewery officiating. Burial was in the Ford’s Well Cemetery in Yalobusha County.
She was born January 14, 1924 in Memphis, to the late John Thomas and Nora Lee Butler Burgess. She was a 1942 graduate of Bartlett High School and married Cecil “Nick” Nichols on April 10, 1943. She taught First Grade Sunday School at Coleman Avenue Church of Christ in Memphis for 20 years. When Nick retired they moved to the Oakland, area near Enid Lake where she joined Ford’s Well Church of Christ. While her children attended Treadwell School in Memphis, she volunteered with the Parent Teacher Association serving as President, and was awarded a life membership in the Tennessee PTA for her long years of service. After her children finished school, she attended Memphis Vocational School and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. For 10 years she worked at Methodist Central Hospital in the urology department until her retirement.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil C. “Nick” Nichols and her daughter, Nancy Nichols Rose.
Survivors include: two sons Gary Nichols of Houston, Texas and Ronnie Nichols of Red Banks; six grandchildren and her great-grandchildren
The family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.

Horace Wayne Potts

BATESVILLE–– Horace Wayne Potts, 39, died Sunday, July 12, 2015, his residence.
Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Burial will be held at Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
Potts was born Dec. 19, 1975 in Batesville, to Larry Wayne and Shirley Henry Potts, was member of Enon Baptist Church and worked as a truck driver and farmer.
Survivors, along with his parents, include: daughter, Hannah Potts of Batesville; son, Hunter Potts of Hardy; two sisters, Chesley Potts Blair and April Potts Taylor, both of Batesville
Since Horace fought a short battle with cancer, the family ask that anyone wishing to send memorials in his memory, please forward those to the Panola County Relief Fund, c/o Red Hudson, 447 John Branch Road, Batesville, MS 38606. This fund supports local cancer patients and Horace was a benefactor of this fund as well.

Kennith Dewayne Ware

SOUTHAVEN––Kennith Dewayne Ware, 64, died Monday, July 13, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Brantley-Phillips Funeral Home in Hernando. Visitation will be held Wednesday 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Twin Oaks Cemetery in Southaven.
Ware was a retiree of Hardin-Sysco in Memphis.
Survivors include: his wife, Kathey Diane Ware; one daughter, Teresa Ware of Southaven; five sisters, Katherine Brower of Sardis, Marlene Daly of Peachtree City, Ga., Margie Grant of Grenada, Bettie Austin of Crowder and Judy Ann Gregg of Batesville; two brothers, E. V. Ware and Bo Ware, both of Batesville and two grandchildren, Kennith and Hunter.

Julia Frances Crafton Williamson
BATESVILLE–– Julia Frances Crafton Williamson, age 71, died Saturday, July 11, 2015, at her home in Batesville.
The family will have a Service of Remembrance 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2015 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with inurnment to follow in Forrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Williamson was born February 22, 1944 in Marks to the late Jesse and Mary Frances Simms Crafton. She retired as an administrative assistant for Thompson Formby Company in Memphis after 20 years of service, and was a member of Fairhaven Baptist Church in Olive Branch.
Survivors include her husband, Harry Williamson of Batesville, a daughter, Sherry Williamson Crowley of Denver, Col.; sister, Mildred Crafton Parker of Sardis; brother, Wesley Crafton of Elizabeth, La.; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael Kevin Williamson; four sisters, Faye Black, Thelma McCullum, Helen Odom, Betty Jean Sellers; two brothers, Walter Crafton and Lloyd Crafton.
