Joyce Diane Gordon
OXFORD–– Joyce Diane Gordon, 58, died Sunday, November 16, 2014, at her residence.
Services will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Mt. Gillion M.B. Church on Terza Road in Sardis. Pastor Jacob C. Hentz will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Burial will be in Orwood Cemetery in Taylor. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Gordon, born July 15, 1956, in Batesville, to the late Rev. Zannie Leland Sr. and Izola Mosley, graduated from South Panola Class of 1975. She was a retired receptionist at Oxford Lung Physicians and a member of East Providence Church in Oxford where she was a choir member and member of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include: two sons, Bradric Gordon and Anthony Ruffin, both of Oxford; three daughters, Kamisha McIntosh, Colista Buford and Lakesha Ruffin, all of Oxford; nine brothers, Rev. Zannie Leland Jr., Lyndon Mosley, Fredrick Joe Mosley, all of Batesville, James Mosley of Sardis, Ernest Mosley of San Atonio, Texas, Matthew Mosley, Thomas Earl Fondren and Bishop Herbert Mitchell, all of Memphis; Hugh Mosley of Abbeville; two sisters, Jacqueline Robertson of Batesville and Jessie Delores Williams of Abbeville; 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

George William Smith
ST. LOUIS–– George William Smith, 69, died Wednesday, November 12, 2014.

Services will be held today at 1 p.m. at Shiloh M.B. Church in Courtland. Pastor Carl Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Shiloh Church Cemetery in Courtland. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.
Smith, born August 1, 1945, in Batesville, to the late Buster Smith and Vonzella Hamilton, was a self employed car mechanic.

Survivors include: one son, George C. Smith of St. Louis; one daughter, Amanda Lynn Owens of St. Louis; two brothers, Jessie Smith of Des Moines, Iowa and Lonnie Smith of Jasper, Tenn.; five sisters, Lou Ella Ford and Mary Ford, both of Batesville, Catherine Hughes of Des Moines, Iowa, Bobbie Rhyme of Chicago and Annette Shegog of Pope; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Barbara Lynn Todd
COURTLAND––Barbara Lynn Todd, 46, died Sunday, November 16, 2014, at her residence.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Eureka A.M.E. Zion Church in Courtland. Pastor James Wright will officiate. Visitation will be held today from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Todd, born March 16, 1968, in Sardis, to R.B. Ford of Batesville and the late Edna Todd Ford, graduated from South Panola High School and was a certified nurse’s aid at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi. She was a member of Eureka A.M.E. Zion Church.

Survivors along with her father include: three sons, Jerrick Todd, Robert Holmes III and Joshua Holmes, all of Courtland; one daughter, Joslyn Holmes of St. Louis; nine brothers, George Todd, Randy Ford and Calvin Sanford, all of Batesville, Alexander Carr, William Carr, Travis Carr and Gregory Carr, all of Courtland, Renard Cole of Cleveland, Kelvin Butler of Batesville; five sisters, Patricia Todd, Felicia Ford, Sharon Taylor, and Kierra Ford, all of Batesville and Sheila Carr of Courtland and her grandmother, Dartha Rean Carr of Courtland.
