After blanking Lee, Ark. 14-0 in three innings, North Delta led Carroll 9-0 in the top of the third before rain halted play. The Wave’s final game of the day against Union Christian was also canceled.

Sarah Johnson struck out seven while not allowing a hit in the Waves victory over Lee. Anna Lloyd led North Delta (3-2) at the plate with a single and double and five runs driven in while Johnson drilled a three-run home run as part of a six-run fourth inning.

After a scoreless first frame, the Lady Waves sent 14 batters to the dish as part of an eight-run second inning. Madeline Ray drew a bases loaded walk to get North Delta on the board before Lloyd drilled a double into left to clear the bases.

Two batters later, Caroline Dickins slapped a two-run single to drive in  Lloyd and Maribeth Johns to North Delta a 6-0 advantage. Dickins and Janie Brassell later scored on a Lee error to round out the frame.

The Lady Waves continued the outburst in the third as Brassell sacrificed a run in before Johnson blasted a three-run dinger for a 12-0 cushion. Lloyd finished out the scoring with a single to produce a pair of runs.

North Delta banged out eight hits in the contest as Dickins added a double in the first while Ginger Stephens added a single and scored in the third.

The Lady Waves picked up where they left off against Carroll by scoring nine runs in the first before play was called in the top of the third.

Hailey Lamm got the scoring barrage started with a two-run single before an error with the bases load drove in three runs. Dickins later added a two-run single to finish out the scoring. Brassell led off the third with a single when the contest was halted. Dickins gave up one hit while issuing five walks and striking out one batter in two innings of work.

North Delta will be back in action Wednesday at Magnolia Heights beginning at 5 p.m. with the JV contest.

North Delta will host the Summer Classic Pool Play Friday and Saturday on North Delta field.
