Gloria Stine Geter
SENATOBIA–– Gloria Stine Geter, 66, died Sunday, July 27, 2014, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto. She was the sister of Rosie Lane of Crenshaw.
Services will be held Monday, August 4 at 11 a.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Senatobia. Visitation will be held Sunday 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. at Felix Cauthen Funeral Home. Burial will be in Senatobia Memorial Cemetery.
Geter worked at Senatobia Convalescent Center.
Survivors along with her sister include: her husband, Murray Geter of Senatobia; four daughters, Antoinette Geter of Memphis, Daphne Geter and Loraine Johnson, botho of Senatobia and Rolanda Merritt of Greenville; two sons, Darin Geter of Plainewell, Ill. and Reggie Geter of Fayetteville, N.C.; sister, Lurlene White of Cincinnati, Ohio; three brothers, Will Buck and Billy Buck, both of Memphis and AK Buck of Newport, Ky.; 26 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
William “Billy” Franklin Jackson Jr.
SARDIS–– William “Billy” Franklin Jackson Jr., 81, died Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Mississippi State Veterans Home in Oxford.
Memorial services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Sardis. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until service time. Ray Nowell Funeral Home-Sardis Chapel has charge.
Jackson, born Sept. 10, 1932, to the late William Franklin and Tencie Childress Jackson at the family farm, west of Sardis, he joined the United States Army after high school, where he served in the medical detachment of the 29th Tank Battalion, attaining the rank of sergeant. A graduate of Mississippi State University, he also earned an advanced degree in education administration from the University of Mississippi. He worked in industry for 13 years until 1995, when he joined the staff of Northwest Mississippi Community College. There he served as Coordinator of Industrial Training, until his retirement. He was a member of Sardis United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by an infant son.
Survivors include: his wife of 60 years, Ruth Cleland Jackson of Sardis; one daughter Mary Cleland Jackson McLoughlin of Bartlett, Tenn.; two sons, William Franklin Jackson III and John Lloyd Cleland Jackson, both of Sardis; two sisters Clara Dell Klyce of Sardis and Alice Faye Duke of Eupora two grandchildren; one step-grandchildren.
Janet Wray Avery Roberson
BATESVILLE–– Janet Wray Avery Roberson, 69, died Monday, July 28, 2014, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.
The family will have a private memorial service at a later time. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
Roberson, born August 30, 1944 in the Tocowa community near Courtland, to the late Claude Hubert Avery Sr. and Ruby Wray Avery, was a member of the Shiloh United Methodist Church in Courtland. She was a retired Eligibility Case Worker for the Mississippi Department of Human Services.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Beverly Ann Roberson.
Survivors include: daughter, Alisa Haley of Batesville; son, Perrin Roberson of Southaven; one sister, Charlotte A. Bailey of Courtland and one grandchild.
The family requests that memorials be sent to the Shiloh United Methodist Church or to a charity of the donors choice.
John Curtis Sealy
COMO––John Curtis Sealy, 85, died Monday, July 28, 2014, at North Oak Regional Medical Center.
Services were held Wednesday at Como United Methodist Church where she was a member. Pate-Jones Funeral Home has charge.
Sealy, born to the late Curtis and Ruby Sealy, was a veteran of WWII having served in the marines.
Survivors include: daughters, Cheri White and Mary Beth Peterson; one sister, Katherine Woods; brother, Warren Sealy.
Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
NaJib DahoWallace
NORFOLK, Va.––Najib Daho “Fatboy Jiba” Wallace, 35, formerly of Marks, died Monday, July 14, 2014. He was the brother of Eric Conner of Batesville.
Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Macedonia M.B. Church in Batesville. Minister Barry Jones and Pastor Zannie Leland will officiate. Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.
Wallace was born June 8, 1979, in Clarksdale to Charles Wallace of Berlin, Germany and Gerldine Phelps Wallace of St. Paul, Minn.
Survivors along with his parents and brother include: one daughter, Naj Wallace of Norfolk, Va.; step-mother, Sylvia Wallace of Berlin, Germany; brother, Chevon Haynes of Berlin, Germany and two sisters, Katanga Biondi Wallace of St. Paul, Minn. and Leticha Shackleford of Gary, Ind.
Charles “W. J.” Williams
BATESVILLE––Charles “W.J.” Williams, 71, died Saturday, July 26, 2014, at his residence.
Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Batesville. Rev. Erving Bishop will officiate. Visitation will be held 1 p.m. – 6 p.m. on Friday at Eddie Robinson and Son Funeral Home in Batesville.
Williams, born Jan. 12, 1943, in Batesville, to Frank Williams and Eva Mae Purtis Williams, was a member of Mt. Zion M.B. Church.
Survivors include: three sisters, Sarah Bishop of Batesville, Thelma Harvey and Annie Willingham, both of Kansas City, Mo. and five brothers, Jessie Williams and Robert Williams, both of Batesville, N.V. Williams, Walter Williams and Jimmy Williams, all of Memphis.
