Plaintiff earns date with grand jury for domestic violence

An Abbeville man was bound over to the grand jury for domestic violence-aggravated assault during Batesville Municipal Court held Wednesday.
Jeremy Pegues, 20 CR 288, Abbeville, was referred to circuit court for domestic violence-aggravated assault by strangling a victim at Wal-Mart, according to the affidavit.
Pegues told the judge he didn’t know what his bond was.
“It’s 5,000,” McKenzie replied.
Pegues also has a hold in Lafayette County for charges he told the judge that he was unaware of and also has a hold by his parole officer. Pegues told the judge he did not know he had a parole officer.
Jonika N. Davis, 206 Pearson, Batesville, bonded out prior to court for felony shoplifting and was bound over to the grand jury.
John Henry Doyle, 3369 Benson Rd., Pope, entered a not guilty plea to public drunk. A trial was set for May 21.
Emily Ann Jackson, 19340-A Hwy. 51, Sardis, had a case for telephone profanity dismissed after the affiant, Carissa Steel, failed to appear.
Jessie Lee Taylor Jr., 101 Goodhaven, Batesville, entered a guilty plea to disorderly conduct-failure to comply. He was fined $313.
Allison J. Johnson, 2674 Central Academy Rd., Sardis, had a trial set for May 21 simple assault.
Johnson, who came in court late, was sentenced to 14 days in jail for failing to pay old fines of $193 that have been due since November 2013.
Letonia Porter, 141 Butler Road, Batesville, had a stalking charge dismissed after the affiant, Marquita Miles, fail to appear to prosecute.
Andrew Elmore, 9972 Eureka Road, Batesville, entered a no contest plea for DUI and open container. He was represented by attorney James Ferguson. He was fined $779.
Mike Fudge, 598 East Lee Street, Sardis, entered not guilty pleas to two counts of simple assault. The case will be heard next Wednesday.
Jerry Morton, 206 Pearson Street, Batesville, entered a not guilty plea to shoplifting (second offense) by stealing a 22-inch hedge trimmer from Sears.
A trial was set.
Jeremy T. Morton, 206 Pearson St., Batesville, entered a guilty plea to disorderly conduct-failure to comply. He was fined $632.
Steven Martin, 125 Tubbs Rd., Batesville, had a charge for resisting arrest and running a stop sign remanded to the files at the officer’s request.
Martin had old fines of $1,798 paid in full prior to court.
