Man charged with armed robbery referred to grand jury

Judge Jay Westfaul referred an armed robbery case to the grand jury during Batesville Municipal Court held Wednesday.

Sedrick Webb, 204 Van Voris, Batesville, was not entitled to a bond since he was out on a felony bond when he was charged with armed robbery.

Judge Westfaul referred him to a higher court.

Attorney Clay Hill represented James Riley, 59 Wrights Rd., Grenada, who was charged with sexual battery, a felony.

Riley is being held in custody for  the MDOC.

Attorney Hill asked for a preliminary hearing for Riley.

The case was scheduled for next Wednesday.

Gabriel A. Lloyd, 35 Lloyd Rd., Batesville, paid a cash bond of $335 in full prior to court for disorderly conduct.

Carlisa Green, 302 CR Oxford, entered a guilty plea to simple possession of marijuana.

Quentin Hogan, 325 Hayes St., Batesville, entered a guilty plea to public drunk. He was fined $210.

Lee S. Williams, 106 Maple Lane, Batesville, entered a not guilty plea to disorderly conduct-failure to comply. The trial was set for December 18.

Dandre D. Cole, 112 Williams St., Batesville, entered a guilty plea to resisting arrest, driving while license suspended and no seat belt and was fined $1,336.

Jacalica Cauthen, 231 Van Voris, Batesville, had a simple assault charge dismissed after the affiant, Sharonda Harris failed to appear to prosecute. Harris had old fines to pay.

Cauthen also had old fines of $315 due.

She told the judge she could pay the fines because she started a new job.

She was told to have the fines paid by December 6.

Bonnie Steward, 1448 Pittman Rd., Batesville, entered a guilty plea to shoplifting. She was fined $1,131.

Tabatha Pittman, 106 James St., Batesville, entered a not guilty plea to shoplifting. A trial was set for December 4.

Dysella Miller, 214 Tubbs, Batesville, entered a guilty plea to domestic violence-simple assault and was fined $402.

Dennis Brown, 10383 Ballentine, Sardis, failed to appear to answer false information, DUI-refusal, no driver’s license, no tag, no proof of insurance and improper equipment. Fox Bonding was notified.

Chris Ladd, 211 Tubbs Rd., Batesville, entered the city’s work program for 11 days in lieu of paying $612 for contempt of court-old fines that have been due since May 2013. He was given credit for the six days he spent in jail.

Jakessa Cole, 149 Victory Rd., Batesville, failed to appear to answer contempt of court-old fines of $1,621 that have been due since May 2013.

Jennifer Westmoreland, paid her old fines of $1,033 for false pretense and contempt of court in full prior to court.

Dareane Davis, 425 Spain Dr., Grenada, paid a cash fine of $1,131 in full prior to court or contempt of court-failure to appear since November 2011.

Excell Jackson, 3610 Curtis Locke Station St., Batesville, was sentenced to 90 days in jail in lieu of paying $1,060 in old fines.

He is currently serving time on other charges and asked the judge if he could serve his fines out.

Rondarius Powell, 105 Hoskins, Batesville, entered a not guilty plea to disregarding a traffic device. A trial was set for December 11.
Amanda L. Rogers, 971 Ballentine, Crenshaw, was fined $593 for no tag and driving while license suspended.
