Freddie Merle White Anthony

HERNANDO — Freddie Merle White Anthony, 90, formerly of Batesville, died September 26, 2013, at her residence.

Services were held September 29 at Hernando Baptist Church. Burial was in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Water Valley. Brentwood Funeral Home had charge.

Anthony, born to the late James William and Lucy Kate White, was a member of Hernando Baptist Church where she was active in the Joy Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Louis Anthony.

Survivors include: two daughters, Beth Mills of Clarksville, Tenn. and Genie Williams of Hernando; one son, Larry Anthony of Hernando; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hernanando Baptist Church.

Arvie L.J. Morrow

BATESVILLE — Arvie L.J. Morrow, 83, widower of the late Mary P. Morrow, died Monday, October 7, 2013.

Services will be  Saturday 11 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Don Shaffer officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held today from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home.

Morrow, was born to the late Elizabeth L. Glenn and Henry Julius Morrow Sr. on November 28, 1929 in Hamilton, Alabama. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church of Batesville. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served during the Korean conflict. He had retired from MDOT in 1989 after 25 years of service as an Equipment Mechanic Master. He was also a farmer.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Patricia O’Shea Morrow; one son; Carl Leonard Morrow; five sisters: Ann Stratton, Eunice Legge, Vera Shields, Mary Burns and Jeanette Rowsey; and one brother: Julius Morrow Jr.

Survivors include: a daughter: Denise Morrow of Batesville; son: Kenny Morrow (Kim) of Goodlettsville, Tenn.; granddaughter: Danielle Williams (Sam) of Nashville, TN; two sisters, Miriam Koerner of Barnett, MO and Helen Grace White of Senatobia, MS.

Carl Leonard Morrow

BATESVILLE — Carl Leonard Morrow, 56, son of the late Arvie L.J. and Mary P. Morrow, died Monday, October 7, 2013, at his home.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wells Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Don Shaffer officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Wells Funeral Home.

Morrow was born to the late Mary Patricia O’Shea and Arvie L.J. Morrow on November 22, 1956 in Batesville. He worked alongside his father as a farmer. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Batesville.

Survivors include: one sister: Denise Morrow of Batesville; brother: Kenny Morrow (Kim) of Goodlesttsville, Tenn.; niece, Danielle Williams (Sam) of Nashville, Tenn.; three aunts, Margaret O’Connell (Jim) of Portland, Ore., Miriam Koerner of Barnett, Mo., Helen Grace White of Senatobia, Munster, Ind.

William Parker Jr.

BATESVILLE — William Parker Jr., 64, died Friday, October 4, 2013, at his residence.

Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Second Concord M.B. Church. Pastor Joseph A. Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held today from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Parker, born Oct. 3, 1949, to the late William Parker Sr. and Lillie Pearl Johnson, attended Patton Lane High School and Alcorn State University.

He was retired from Tennessee Gas Pipeline and was owner of Parker’s Upholstery. He was a member of Second Concord M.B. Church where he was a deacon and superintendant of the Sunday School Department. He was also a member of the ELC Association and Curtis Fire Department.

Survivors include: his wife, Farrie Ware Parker of Batesville; his father, William Parker Sr. of Batesville; two sons, Adrian Parker of Dallas, Texas and Rodrick Parker of Batesville; one brother, Michael Porter of Batesville; five sisters, Lourine Robinson, Linda Johnson, Glenda Parker Reed, all of Batesville, Rubye Williams of West Helena, Ark. and Brenda Cosby of Canal Windchester, Ohio and two grandchildren.

James Harold Pitcock

BATESVILLE — James Harold Pitcock, age 77, passed away Wednesday evening, October 2, 2013 at Tri-Lakes Medical Center in Batesville.

Services were held Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Wells Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Tim Morgan officiating. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Mr. Pitcock, born January 14, 1936 to the late Garland E. and Frances Deaton Pitcock.
managed Taylor Lumber Company in Batesville for many years. He  was a member of Goodhope Baptist Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Shirley Tyler Pitcock of Batesville; three daughters, Teresa Pitcock Sturgis of Pope, Fran Pitcock Kennon of Madison and Kathy Pitcock Taylor of Batesville; one sister, Patricia Pitcock Wilson of Batesville; two brothers, Bobby Pitcock and Jerry Pitcock also of Batesville; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Ardelia Whiting

COMO– Ardelia Whiting, 91, died Wednesday, October 2, 2013.

Services will be held Saturday at noon at Kingdom Hall Church in Senatobia. Burial will be in Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Como. Visitation will be held today from 5 p.m. – 6 p.m. Rodgers Funeral Home has charge.

Whiting was a homemaker.

Survivors include: five daughters, Addie Faulkner of Senatobia, Winnie Elizabeth Kizer of Memphis, Edna W. Marshall of Como, Julia Farris of Detroit and Mae Catherine Berryhill of Chicago; two sons, Ed Whiting of Sardis and James Edward Whiting of Memphis; 20 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
