Gracey Marie Blackwood

CRENSHAW–  Gracey Marie Blackwood, 89, formerly of West Memphis, Ark. died Sunday, February 10, 2013, in Vaiden.

Services were held Wednesday at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home. Burial was in Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion, Ark.

Survivors include: her husband, Ray E. Blackwood; 5 sons, Bobby Blackwood of Elkhart, Ind., Harold Ray Blackwood of Marion, AR., Carroll Blackwood of Corbin, Ken., Paul Blackwood of Como, and Jeffery Lynn Blackwood of Crenshaw; four daughters, Linda Burnett of Como, Joyce Baldwin of Ridgeland, Dorothy Fuller of Pearl and Judy Boyette of Jackson; 33 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis Heathcock and Minnie Johnson Heathcock and one daughter, Nina Sisson.

Joe W. Caldwell

CHICAGO– Joe W. Caldwell, 71, died Sunday, February 10, 2013, at Christ Addocate Hospital in Oak Long, Ill.

Services will be held Monday, February 18 at 10 a.m. at Logos Baptist Assembly Church in Chicago. Vistation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Rev. Donald L. Parson will officiate. Graveside services will be held Tuesday at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 27034 S. Diagonal Rd., Elwood, Ill.
Caldwell, born April 10, 1941, in Sledge, to the late Joe F. Caldwell and the late Betty Clark Caldwell, attended Crenshaw and Concord Grade School and graduated from Batesville High School. He was a member of Logos Baptist Assembly and served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1964-1970 in Fairbanks, Alaska. He was a retired manager from RR Donnelle and Son.

Survivors include: his wife, Josephine Blackburn Caldwell of Chicago; two sons, Kelvin Caldwell of Oswego, Ill. and Dylan Caldwell of Dickeson, Texas; two daughters, Deidre  Caldwell of League City, Texas and Syreeta Caldwell of Chicago; two brothers, Perry Caldwell of Chicago and Fred Caldwell of Oswego; and five sisters, Dorothy McCollum of Minneapolis, Minn., Velma C. King of Batesville, Mary C. Ghee of Henderson, Nevada, Ernestine Caldwell of Antioch, Calif. and Bettye J. Caldwell of Chicago.

William Marshall Hamblin Sr.

COURTLAND – William “Mark” Marshall Hamblin Sr., 53, died in his home, in Courtland Wednesday morning, February 13, 2013.

Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home with Rev. Raymond Aven and Rev. James Strange officiating. Burial will follow in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery.

Hamblin was born to the late William Robert and Faye Roberson Burns of Batesville in Courtland on February 4, 1960. He was a member of the New Hope Church of God in Batesville. Mark worked as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic.

Survivors include his wife, Reba Raines Hamblin of Courtland; three daughters, Tanya Hamblin Durrance of Batesville, Dana Wilson and Michelle Harris, both of Arkansas; three sons, William Marshall Hamblin Jr., Michael Burns and Daniel Burns all of Batesville; three sisters, Carolyn Hamblin Windham of Hernando, Melinda Vires of Olive Branch and Cindy McGhee of Memphis; four brothers, William Michael Hamblin, Sammy Washington and Marty Washington, all of Houlka, and Ricky Burns of Olive Branch; and seven grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be sent those to the New Hope Church of God, 209 West St., Batesville, Miss. 38606.

John Patterson

KEMPNER –– John Patterson, 83, died Tuesday, February 12, 2013 in Harker Heights in Texas.  
Services will be held today at 10 a.m. at Clear Creek Baptist Church with Dr. Cecil Rice and Rev. Thomas Edwards officiating.  Burial with full military honors will follow at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery at noon.

Patterson was born on April 21, 1929 in Crowder, to the late Albert and Luna Chisolm Patterson. He attended school in Crowder.  He joined the United States Air Force in 1947, where he served for two years.  In 1952, he joined the United States Army and continued his military career. He served our country for over 20 years before retiring as a First Sergeant. After his retirement, he founded Centex Data in Lampasas. He was a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include: his wife of 64 years, Georgia Patterson; children, John Patterson Jr. Richard Patterson and Karen Patterson; siblings, Willie Dean Ford, Margie Latham, Miriam Permenter, Bud Patterson, and Stella Robertson; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clear Creek Baptist Church Children and Youth camp fund, 3350 FM 2657, Kempner, Texas 76539.

Terrie Lynn Pierce

CLARKSDALE–  Terrie Lynn Pierce, 65, died December 24, 2012.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 16 at 1 p.m. at National Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from noon – service time. National Funeral Home has charge.

Pierce, born to the late James and Lois Austin, worked for Sayle Oil Company for 15 years. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Terrie Lynn Gibson.

Survivors include: one daughter, Debbie Pierce Williams of Pope; two sons, Scotty Pierce of Marks and Thomas R. “Bud” Pierce of Brookhaven; one sister, Peggy Austin Logan; one brother, Randy Austin of Lambert; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
