The arrest of a Sardis man in Memphis Monday appears to be woven into the recent gang activity that has included the shooting deaths of three men in Batesville.
Officers from the U. S. Marshals’ Gulf Coast Regional Task Force arrested Tevin Robinson, 19, without incident at a Memphis address late Monday on an aggravated assault warrant from the Batesville Police Department.
“Information was developed that placed him in Memphis at the address of a known Gangster Disciple,” said Deputy Marshal Clint Roberson of the Panola County Sheriff’s Department.
When officers arrived at the Memphis address, Robinson was not present. An occupant told the officers that Robinson had been there and was expected to return within an hour, Roberson said.
The occupant also gave officers a description of the vehicle the subject would be traveling in.
When he returned, Robinson was taken into custody and then transported to the Panola County jail about 6:30 p.m. Monday.
Markevius Robinson told police that Tevin Robinson had fired at him on March 29, the night that brothers Lacardo and Shundarrus Moore were gunned down in a vehicle at the West Ridge Apartments, BPD Detective George Williford said.
Four days later, Monday, April 2, Ezekiel Willie accused Markevius Robinson of firing at him on Hoskins Road around noon.
Markevius Robinson made an initial appearance in Batesville Municipal Court Wednesday. (See story, page A8.)
The two Robinsons are not believed to be related.
