Veterans Day will be observed in Batesville on Friday with a program at 11 a.m. at the Downtown Memorial Park.

Congressman Alan Nunnelee is the scheduled speaker, according to Red Hudson, commander of the local VFW, sponsor of the program.

The South Panola High School Air Force JROTC will post the colors, and Alicia Hankins will sing the national anthem.

The public is invited.

Veterans Day is a federal holiday celebrated on November 11, the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice  that ended World War I.
