NP Cougars and Wildcats look for their first win of the season

Tonight will be the clash of the two winless teams in district 3-3A when North Panola hosts Independence.

North Panola (0-8 overall, 0-3 district) and Independence (0-9 overall, 0-3 district) have had tough rebuilding seasons.

Independence is under first year coach Taurus Holts. Independence has not experienced a winning season since 2005 when they went 6-5.

Last year the Wildcats went 3-8 while North Panola went 1-9. Independence has been able to score in all games except against Water Valley and Senatobia. They are coming off a 29-20 loss to Palmer last week.

While North Panola has only scored 30 points this season, Independence has scored 77 but allowed 374. North Panola has allowed 288 points this season.

Independence is led by seniors quarterback Shane Tutor and wide receiver Jawanza Newson.
Kickoff for tonight’s game is 7 p.m. Tickets are $6.
