It is what the boxing world has been waiting for: the return of John “Rusty” Johnson.
That time is here as Johnson of Batesville and Pete Johnson of Sardis, veteran of 30 matches, will engage in grudge match on the Prize Fight Boxing “Fights at the Fitz” card at Fitz Casino and Hotel in Tunica.
Tickets are on sale now for the latest installment of “Fights At The Fitz” on July 30.
“A captivating bout on the card will feature the return of a local favorite as power punching John Johnson 12-2 (10 KO’s) from Batesville fights a grudge match for bragging rights against Sardis’ Pete Johnson in a six-round light heavyweight battle,” said Nate Yoder, vice preisdent of operations of Prize Fight Boxing. “John Johnson, 30, is making his way back to the ring after a four-year layoff and has title aspirations in his sight. During John Johnson’s layoff Pete Johnson has been active and fighting some of the most talented boxers in the world today.”
There are four other fights on the fight card. In the six-round Female Super Welterweight Main Event, two of the top female contenders in the world will meet when all-action fighter Mariem “Punchanella” Brakache of Atlanta goes up against Fitz favorite April Ward of Batesville, Ark.
Also, the scheduled four-round feature bout will pit the “Youngest Fighter in America” Dusty Harrison as he does battle with Jamar Hampton of St. Louis.
Other bouts on the card include an entertaining cruiserweight match between Memphis favorite Calvin Rooks and power punching Sharif Kemp of Atlanta, GA. Further, Maurice Byarm 11-0-1 (10 KO’s) will take to the ring 4-Round Heavyweight bout with an as yet unnamed opponent.
“The five bout card is sure to be one of the most exciting events yet at The Fitz,” Yoder said.
