CORDOVA, Tenn. – Grace Whitehead Mathes, 87, formerly of Sardis, died Thursday, June 9, 2011, at Cordova Estates.
Services were Saturday at Pleasant Grove Methodist Church near Sardis. Burial was in Peach Creek Cemetery. Ray-Nowell Funeral Home had charge.
Mathes was a member of Pleasant Grove Methodist Church and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom H. Mathes Sr.
Survivors include: one daughter, Nancy Gray of Cordova; one son, Tom H. Mathes Jr. of Horn Lake; one brother, Virgil Whitehead of Macon, Ga.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial contributions be made to Pleasant Grove Methodist Church.
Webster “Bo” Morning Jr.
COURTLAND– Webster “Bo” Morning Jr., 70, died Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at his residence.
Services will be held Thursday, June 16 at 1 p.m. at the Batesville Junior High School Auditorium. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 15 from 1 p.m. – 6 p.m. at Eddie Robinson Funeral Home in Batesville. Burial will be in Viney Creek Cemetery in Sardis.
Morning, born April 19, 1941, in Sardis, to the late Allie Ve Callicutt and Webster Morning, worked for the road maintenance for Panola County and attended Viney Creek M.B. Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Jearline Strong Morning of Courtland; eight sons, Kettrich Winfield, Garrick Moering, Vande Moering, Danny Ferrell, Dudley Moering, DeShawn Pollard, Sylvester Pollard and Bobby Toliver; two daughters, Marilyn Moering Watkins and Eilachel Moering; 20 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
