Games postponed due to weather

The rain Monday forced some changes in the sports schedule around the county.
The North Delta baseball district game at West Memphis was postponed. North Delta will host back-to-back games Thursday and Friday.

Because the fields are still wet from Monday’s rain, South Panola’s game scheduled against Starkville Tuesday has been moved to Wednesday at 4 and 6 p.m.

Thursday, the Green Wave will host West Memphis in a district doubleheader at 4 and 6 p.m. Friday, North Delta and West Memphis will play A and B games at 4 and 6 p.m.

The North Delta golf team did not play in the Indianola Tournament and coach Dan Werner does not expect to make up the match.

The Batesville Jr. High game at home against Magnolia Heights has been postponed. Coach Charles Willoughby did not have a makeup date set as of Monday afternoon.

South Panola ninth grade baseball team was scheduled to play at Desoto Central but that game was cancelled. No word from Coach Patrick Robey if or when it will be made up.

North Delta Jr. High baseball game against Bayou was postponed but a make up date has not been set. Coach T. J. Douglas said the team also had a home game against Starkville Academy that has to be rescheduled.

The Jr. High Green Wave split a twinbill with Starkville Academy Friday winning the first 10-3 and dropping the nightcap 7-2.

As for the weather, Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to be sunny and clear with clouds moving back in Thursday and Friday. Thursday there is a 20 percent chance of rain and Friday has a 30 percent chance of rain.
