“I noticed a strong smell of burnt marijuana coming from him as he approached me,” Hubbard’s report reads and then states, “When the door came open there was a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from the car.”

Hubbard’s report went on to say that he opened a box and found a clear plastic bag of alleged marijuana, an alleged marijuana cigarette and two orange pills believed to be vitamins.

“I issued one city citation to Mr. Kemper for possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle and took the alleged marijuana into evidence,” the report concludes.

Another report from Officer Justin Maples states that a home on Fisher Street was burglarized between the hours of 6 and 8:30 p.m. on April 1.

The home’s occupants returned to find the kitchen blind broken over the sink  and pushed away from the window.

“There were muddy footprints all through the home,” according to Maples’ report that also stated the back door was left unlocked from where suspect(s) exited the home. Two occupants reported nothing missing at the time.

Evidently there are witnesses as the report reads, “an attempt (was made) to contact this person but (they) had already left home. Occupants both submitted statements and offered to have witnesses provide a statement as well the report stated.

Other incidents included in this week’s report included: Eric Lashawn Williams arrested for contempt of court warrant  and transported to Panola County Jail by Sergeant Michael Hardin; Jeremy Quartez Parker arrested for possession of concealed weapon on Van Voris Street at Family Super Market on April 1, at 7:22 p.m. also by Sergeant Hardin and Cedrick Tyrone Haygood arrested and charged with public drunk, possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle, and possession of a weapon by a felon on Pearson Street on April 2 by Patrolman Jackie Profitt.

Patrolman Daniel Chandler’s April 2 report indicated a complaint of vandalism on an automobile parked at Batesville National Guard Armory.
