Led by Allye Lundy’s 13 points, the Raiderettes held North Delta to nine second half points in route to a 41-22 victory to wrap up second place behind league leading Marshall. North Delta fell to 16-8 on the season and 3-3 in district play.

The first half see-sawed back and forth as both teams put together scoring runs. Kirk jumped out to a 6-2 lead only to have North Delta explode on an 11-0 run to take a 13-6 lead at the 4:31 mark of the second quarter. Laci DuBravec’s pair of three-pointers keyed the rally.

Kirk (20-8; 6-2) ended the Green Wave rally by going on an 11-0 run of their own as Aubrey Woods and Kelsey Marter connected on four straight free throws in the final minute of the half to give the Raiderettes a 17-13 halftime lead.

Both teams struggled to find the bottom of the net by combining for seven points in the third period. Kirk extended its lead to 22-13 as Woods scored on a inbound play followed by Lundy’s three-pointer at the 3:32 mark. Hanna Greenlee scored the Green Wave’s only two points of the quarter with a basket 21 seconds later to break the 16-0 Kirk run.

The final eight minutes belonged to Kirk as they out-scored the home team 19-7. Lundy canned a pair of treys to extend the lead to 30-17 with 6:20 to play. Marter then connected on four consecutive free throws down the stretch to give Kirk its largest lead of the game at 38-20 with 1:35 left to play.

DuBravec paced North Delta with nine points while Greenlee followed with four. Madison Greenlee chipped in three points and three assists while Hanna Waldrip, Katelyn Still and Bradi Beard each recorded two points.

ND Varsity Green Wave

In the varsity boys contest, North Delta shot a sizzling 51 percent from the floor while receiving a season-high 30 points from Jim Tom Copeland as the Wave pounded Kirk 66-31.

North Delta (12-6; 5-1) jumped out to a 19-7 first quarter lead and never looked back while coasting to the victory. The victory kept the Green Wave in second place in the District 1-AA standings behind Marshall, who North Delta hosted last night.

Kirk had no answer for Copeland’s powerful inside game as the senior scored 17 third-quarter points. Renic Greenlee and Corbin Baker’s back-to-back treys gave North Delta a 27-9 cushion with 4:09 remaining before intermission. Matthew Barefoot registered his only two points of the game with 1.00 left to give the Wave its largest lead of the game at 36-14.

Bryan ‘B.’ Nickle followed Copeland in scoring with 12 points while Baker and Greenlee contributed with six each. Derrick Shawn added five while Bailey Guckert chipped in with three points. Tyler Lee and Carson Bailey rounded out the scoring with two points.

North Delta will close out the district slate tonight by traveling to Indianola with four games starting a 3 p.m.
