POPE–Gay Nell Bright Benson, 73, died Friday, November 12, 2010.
Graveside services were held Sunday at Forrest Memorial Park with Dr. Gary Berry officiating. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
Benson, born Aug. 16, 1937, in Pope, to the late Will Ray and Agatha Tidwell Bright, owned and operated Benson Grocery on Hwy. 51 at Enid Dam She was a member of Pope United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kelly Benson.
Survivors include: one daughter, Deborah Benson Duncan of Charleston; one son, Kelly “Bubba” Benson Jr. of Pope; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Josephine Tolbert Boyd
OAKLAND–Josephine Tolbert Boyd, 81, died Sunday, November 7, 2010, at Grenada Lake Medical Center.
Services were Friday at Massey Grove M.B. Church in Oakland. Rev. Lloyd V. Anderson officiated. Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery in Tillatobia. Cooley’s Mortuary had charge.
Boyd, born Aug. 7, 1929, to the late Sam Tolbert and Martha Lester, was a homemaker and a member of Massey Grove M.B. Church. Survivors include: her husband, William Boyd of Oakland and one sister, Eva Nevels of Memphis.
James Vernon Golden
CROWDER–James Vernon Golden, 83, died Thursday, November 11, 2010.
Services were Saturday at Faith Baptist Church in Lambert. Burial was in Lambert Cemetery. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.
Golden was the son of the late U.V. Golden and Adam Washington Golden.
He was preceded in death by his son, J.C. Golden.
Survivors include: three daughters, Betty Golden Jenkins of Crowder, Laura Dvorak of Lambert and Ruby Holmes of Russville, Tenn.; two sons, Christopher Golden of Crowder and Billy Golden of Randallman, N.C.; three sisters, Lorene Morgan of Marks, Peggy Clemer and Irene Smith, of Lambert; four brothers, Floyd Golden of Sledge, John Golden of Marks, Gene Golden of Crowder, Jr. Golden of Coffeeville and C.W. Pruitt of Riplye;14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Illa M. Littrell
SENATOBIA–Illa M. Littrell, 72, died Sunday, November 14, 2010, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Bethesda Cemetery in Senatobia. Rev. Jay Thompson will officiate. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
Littrell, born Jan. 25, 1938, in Coahoma County, to the late Cuff Dave and Lucille Lusk Harpole was a Methodist.
Survivors include: one son, David Harper of Senatobia; two sisters, Melba Harpole of Memphis and Sandra Harpole of Texas.
Jean R. Ray
LAMBERT–Jean R. Ray, 68, died Thursday, November 11, 2010, at her residence.
Memorial services were Monday at West Marks Baptist Church. Rev. Brian Grammer officiated. Burial was in Marks Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
Ray, born May 22, 1942, in Clarksdale, to the late Robert Lee and Gladys Tatum Robertson, was a member of West Marks Baptist Church. She worked for Fairland Institute as an intake coordinator for 12 years.
Survivors include: her husband, Royce Ray of Lambert; three daughters, Leagh Hamilton of Hartselle, Ala., Robbie Rodgers and Katie Jenkins, both of Lambert; one brother, Pete Robertson of Lambert; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
