Bobby Brassell
COMO– Bobby Brassell, 68, died Thursday, September 9, 2010, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.
Services were Saturday at Mt. Level M.B. Church in Como. Burial was in Mt. Level Cemetery in Como. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home had charge.
Survivors include: his wife, Ruby Bobo; three daughters, Cathey Street of Chicago, Ill., Rosetta Brassell of North Carolina and Vemail Brassell of Como; two sons, Oshea Horn Brassell of Como and Bobby Brassell of Memphis; three sisters, Lovie Brown of Chicago, Daser Nelson of Ontario, Calif. and Jeanette Russell of Como and one brother, L.C. Brassell of Como; two sisters, Monnette Chapman of Apple Valley, Calif. and Rosie Roberson of Pasadena, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Irby Wilson Childress
SARDIS–Irby Wilson Childress, 93, died Saturday, September 11, 2010, at his residence.
Services were Monday at Ray-Nowell Funeral Home. Hal Johnson officiated. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Ray-Nowell Funeral Home had charge.
Childress, born to the late Effie G. Childress and Clarence P. Childress, was a member of Sardis Church of Christ. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and worked for the Frisco Railroad for 40 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ardith Scallorn Childress.
He is survived by one sister, Josephine Rutherford of Clinton, Tenn.
COMO– Ruby Lee Goodwin Ruby, 79, died Wednesday, September 8, 2010, at her residence.
Services were Saturday at Ray-Nowell Funeral Home in Sardis. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery in Como. Rev. Donny Hill and Hal Johnson officiated. Ray-Nowell Funeral Home had charge.
Ruby, born July 10. 1931, to the late Johnnie Lee Goodwin and Jessie Epps Goodwin, was a member of New Hope Baptist Church for over 50 years and was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. “Boots” Ruby and one son, Bobby John Ruby.
Survivors include: three sons, James Byron Ruby and Paul Ruby, both of Como and Don Ruby of Senatobia; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
Russell Carlson Williams
BATESVILLE– Russell Carlson Williams, 51, died Sunday, September 12, 2010, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center in Batesville.
Services will be held Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Dr. Robert Self and Billy Williams will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. today at Wells Funeral Home. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
Williams, born Feb. 14, 1959, in Batesville, to Nina Mae Redell and Billie Boyd Williams Sr., was an electrician for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Arkabutla Lake. He was a dedicated Christian.
Survivors include: one daughter, Amanda Joyce Williams Evans of Batesville; two brothers, Billy Boyd Williams Jr. and Carl Neail Hockaday, both of Batesville and one grandson, Gabriel Redell Evans of Batesville.
