Lucille Hoskins

ENID­— Lucille Hoskins, 91, died Sunday, November 15, 2009, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Services will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant M.B. Church in Enid. Rev. William Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Hoskins, born July 14, 1918, in Oakland, to Viola House, was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Pleasant M.B. Church.

Clyde Davis Jackson

COMO­— Clyde Davis Jackson, 70, died November 14, 2009, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.
Services will be held Saturday at noon at Ebenezer M.B. Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home has charge.

Jackson, born to Joe Ada Garrett Jackson of Como was a member of Ebenezer M.B. Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Emma Jean Jackson; one daughter, Eloise M. Jackson of Como; one son, Rickey Jackson of Como; three sisters, Dorothy Danner of Memphis, James Ella Wilbourn and Corinda Hill, both of Como; three brothers, A.J. Jackson, William P. Jackson and James Otis Jackson, all of Como; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Charles Alvin “C.A.” Johnson

BRYANT, Ark.­— Charles Alvin “C.A.” Johnson, 66, died Monday, November 16, 2009, at Saline Memorial Hospital Hospice Unit in Bryant, Ark. He was the brother of Hoyt Johnson and Jessie Johnson, both of Sardis.

Graveside services were held Wednesday at Twin Oaks Memorial Garden in Southaven. Rev. Howard Beam officiated. Twin Oaks Funeral Home had charge.

Johnson, born Sept. 28, 1943, was a member of Parkin Baptist Church in Parkin, Ark. He attended Christian Brothers College in Memphis where he majored in Electrical engineering. He was also an employee of Buckman Laboratories. For the past 43 years he was a resident of the Arkansas Health Center in Benton, Ark.

Survivors along with his brothers include: one sister,  Marguerite Wieland of Eads, Tenn. and one brother, Jerry Johnson of Memphis.

Sue Hubbard McMinn

POPE­— Sue Hubbard McMinn, 62, died Monday November 16, 2009, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Pope Baptist Church with Dr. Gary Berry officiating and Rev. Roger Richards assisting. Interment to follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery with Wells Funeral Home of Batesville in charge of arrangements.

 McMinn was born November 21, 1946 in Pope, to the late Herman and Rosemary Kelley Hubbard. She was a native of Panola County and long-time resident of Pope.

Sue devoted her life to her kindergarten students and her family.  She was a master of her teaching trade, a valued employee and colleague, and a loyal supporter of the Pope School and community.

During her long tenure of teaching Sue was honored in 2000 as the Teacher of the Year at Pope Elementary School, District Teacher of the Year and the Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year.

A 21-year breast cancer survivor, Sue fought bravely and courageously and overcame many setbacks including a lymphoma diagnosis in 2007 and again in 2009.

After rekindling a high school friendship at a Pope Baptist Church Homecoming in 2002, She married, James R. McMinn in 2003.

Survivors include her husband, Jim McMinn of Pope, daughter, Kelley Still of Pope; brother, Herman Lee Hubbard,Jr. of Batesville and one grandson.

Memorials may be made to Pope Baptist Church, Pope, MS 38658; the American Cancer Society or the Chapel Hill Cemetery Fund.

Lonzie Mae Presley

COMO— Lonzie Mae Presley, 68, died Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Services will be held Sunday at 11 a.m. at Askew Grove M.B. Church in Sarah. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home had charge.

Presley was a member of Askew Grove M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Freddie Presley.

Survivors include: one daughter, Chris A. Presley of Como; nine sons, Fred Presley Jr. of Memphis, Bobby Presley, Mack Authur Presley, Tony Presley and Randy Presley, all of Como, L.D. Presley of Senatobia, Ricky Presley of Oxford, Jackie Presley of Falcon and Timothy Presley of Marks; two sisters, Jessie Brooks of Crenshaw and Margaret Presley of Sardis; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild and four great-great-grandchildren.

Louella Wilbourn Dandridge Stone

BATESVILLE— Louella Wilbourn Dandridge Stone, 73, died Wednesday, November 11, 2009, from injuries received in an automobile accident.

Services were Thursday at new Rock Hill M.B. Church. Rev. Charles Becton officiated. Burial was in the Old Rock Hill Cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary had charge.

Stone, born Aug. 8, 1936, in Sardis, to the late Alex Wilbourn and Louvennia Cosby, was a pastor and social worker. He was a member of Unity Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include: her husband, Ronald Stone of Batesville; four sons, Alexander “Shot” Wilbourn of Pope, Ricky Wilbourn of Lacey, Wash., Kevin Dandridge and Sylvester Dandridge, both of Brooklyn, N.Y.; four daughters, Mary Frances Dandridge, Evelyn Louise Foster, Louvennia Dandridge, all of Brooklyn and Mary Lewis Gist of Langhorn, Pa.; four sisters, Roxie Ann Jackson of Arlington, Tenn., Ora Lee Washington and Precilla Harden, both of Chicago and Addie Mar Harris of Sardis; three brothers, Andrew Wilson of St. Louis, Wallace Wilbourn and Sherman Greer, both of Chicago; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
