Hunter wins NP board seat
By Billy Davis
Verna Hunter won a seat on the North Panola School Board following Election Day Tuesday.
Hunter won 228-112 in a race against former school board member Cecil Dowden.
She defeated Dowden in three of four voting precincts.
North Panola is currently led by a conservator after the state Department of Education took over the school district in 2007.
Hunter serves as executive director of the North Delta Enterprise Community in Sardis.
She also sits on the county land development commission.
