SP and ND prevail; NP falls

It took almost four quarters for the South Panola Tigers to see their first score against Southaven Friday night. But once the scoring training starting rolling, there was no stopping it.

South Panola downed Southaven 40-0 in basically one quarter and 55 seconds.

The first score was a 27-yard run by Kendrick Market with 55 seconds left in the third quarter.  Nolan Parker’s PAT was good for the 7-0 lead.

Nick Parker scored on a one-yard run with 9:55 left in the game. The PAT failed. With 8:47 left in the game with Southaven deep in its own territory, Tiger linebacker Temario Strong intercepted a Southaven pass and took it the two yards for a touchdown.  The two-point attempt failed.

Domonique Carothers got his turn on a three-yard run with 4:37 left in the game. The two-point conversion from Lee Self to Taylor Rotenberry was good for the 27-0 lead.

The Tigers were not finished Devin Clark recovered a Southaven fumble. With 4:11 left in the game, Rotenberry scored on an 11-yard run. The two-point attempt failed and the Tigers led 33-0.

With 2:31 left in the game, Qyendairs Griffin scored on his only rushing attempt of the night on a 45-yard run. The Tigers won 40-0 on Nolan Parker’s PAT.

South Panola had 356 total yards and Southaven was limited to 59 total yards.

North Delta

As Hillari Plummer was named homecoming queen, the North Delta Green Wave claimed a 42-6 victory over Greenville Christian.

North Delta scored three touchdowns in the first quarter. Tres Brasell scored the first two on runs of 13 and 11 yards, respectively. Conor Ferguson was put in the back field from two-yards out and scored on a two-yard run with 1:52 left. Bryan Nickle kicked two of three PATs for the 20-0 first quarter lead.

In the second quarter, John Cody Dalrymple scored on a 14-yard pass from quarterback Derrick Shawn with 11:02 on the clock. Dalrymple scored the two-point conversion. Shawn scored on a one-yard run with 9:23 left in the half. The PAT failed and the Green Wave led 34-0 at the half.

The only Green Wave score in the second half was a 16-yard pass from backup quarterback Casey Livingston to Hayden Renfro with 2:56 left. The two-point conversion by Caitlin McArthur was good. Greenville Christian scored on a four-yard run with 7:23 left in the game. The PAT was blocked for the final score of 42-6.

North Panola

With a 28-6 loss to Center Hill, the North Panola Cougars saw their chances of postseason play come to an end. Turnovers marked the Cougars’ game from beginning to end. North Panola’s first play from the opening possession ended in a fumble and touchdown by Center Hill.

At the half, the Cougars were down 28-6. The defense did hold Center Hill scoreless throughout the second quarter, but the Mustangs had done their damage in the first half and just maintained in the second half.

The Cougars’ lone score came on a 70-yard interception return by Ricky Hunt with8:20 left to go in the third quarter. The PAT by Hunt failed.
