Mary Bolen Draper

BATESVILLE–Mary Bolen Draper, 60, died Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

Services were Friday, May 15 at Wells Funeral Home. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Draper, born Oct. 1, 1948, to Ruby Jones Bolen and late Birl M. Bolen, was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She graduated from Crowder High School in 1966. She received her accounting degree from the University of Mississippi and went on to receive her law degree from the University of Mississippi. She had her private law practice with Bailey and Draper Law Firm of Batesville. She was a member of the Rotary Club, past president of the Garden Club and a member of the Mississippi Bar Association.

She was preceded in death by one son, Brian Keith Faulkner and her father, Birl M. Bolen.

Survivors along with her mother include: her husband, Roderick V. Draper of Batesville; two step-daughters, Grace Draper Toulou and Elizabeth Draper Guerrero, both of Ft. Worth, Texas; four sisters, Carolyn Bolen Toliver, Margaret Bolen Darby, Helen Bolen Stroup, all of Batesville and Linda Bolen Respess of Crowder; one brother, Kenny Bolen of Batesville; two grandchildren, Malena Toulou and Caleb Guerrero.

Joe F. Jones

BATESVILLE– Joe F. Jones, 81, died Tuesday evening, May 19, 2009, at Golden Living Nursing Home.

Graveside services were Thursday at Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Kevin Crofford officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Jones was born in Halls, Tenn. on April 9, 1928. He was the widower of Dorothy Lee Huddleston Jones.

Survivors include: one son, Bobby Joe Jones of Batesville and one brother: Raymond Earl Jones of Como.


Janis Tyler Keenum

BARTLETT, Tenn.– Janis Tyler Keenum died Thursday, May 21, 2009, at her residence.

Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. at Christ Church, 5955 Yale Road in Bartlett, Tenn. Tuesday, May 26. Full obituary information will be in Tuesday’s edition of The Panolian or by viewing www.panolian.com. Wells Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Ernest Floyd Kirchoff

BATESVILLE– Ernest Floyd Kirchhoff age 70, died Sunday May 17, 2009, at V.A. Regional Medical Center in Memphis.

Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. today at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will begin at noon on Friday. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Kirchhoff, born June 30, 1938 in Bradenton, Fla., to the late Henry Frye and Rosa Sutton Kirchhoff,  was a retired carpenter and served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp.

Survivors include: his wife, Dera Connell Kirchhoff of Batesville,; one daughter, Kimberly Kirchhoff Brown of Vardaman; two sons, Kelly Morris Kirchhoff of LaRose, La. and Dale I. Kirchhoff of Hixson, La.; one sister, Jennifer Kirchhoff Haga of Palmetto, Fla.; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Emily Kathryn Towles Mangrum

BATESVILLE– Emily Kathryn Towles Mangrum, 93, died Monday, May 18, 2009, at Fairfield.

Services were Wednesday at the First Baptist Church. Dr. Johnny Spencer officiated.  Dickens Funeral Home had charge.

Mangrum, born March 27, 1916, to the late Cullen Towles and the late Alice Legge Towles, was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Mangrum and one son, Calvin Randall Mangrum.

Survivors include: one daughter, Judy Mangrum Clark of Signal Mountain, Tenn.; two sons, Dennis Mangrum and his wife Peggy of Batesville and Phillip Mangrum and his wife Barbara of Jackson; one sister, Martha Hill of Tunica and six grandchildren, Emily Clark, Jennifer McCain, Kimberly Van Uden, Charlie Mangrum, Mandy Mangrum and Kelly Chambers; three great-grandchildren, Emily Kathryn Van Uden, Anna McCain and Lucy McCain.

George Lawrence Swain

Sardis– George Lawrence Swain, 41, died Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at Tri Lakes Medical Center in Batesville.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. today at Singleton Cemetery in Strayhorn. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Swain, born April 23, 1968 in Hernando, to the late Edgar E. and Marguerite Calvert Swain of Sardis, was a nursing assistant

Survivors include his mother, Marguerite Calvert Swain of Sardis; six sisters, Linda Gale Rich of Sardis,  Melanie Westmoreland of Strayhorn, Gracie McDaniel of Senatobia, Debra Smith of Senatobia, Kelly Medlin of Hernando, Geri Ann George of Oxford; two brothers, Michael Swain and Chris Swain, both of Sardis.
