The North Panola Lady Cougars retained their District Championship title with a 46-43 win over Rosa Fort.
This was the third meeting between the two teams where Rosa Fort emerged the victor in the first two.
A capacity crowd was on hand to witness the Lady Cougars, No. 3 seeded going into the tournament, end up the No. 1 team in the district.
The Lady Cougars will host the first round of the North State tournament Monday at 7 p.m. against the No. 4 team in Region 1-3A.
The Cougar boys fell to Holly Springs by three points in the consolation game and is the No. 4 team in the district. Tuesday, they will be on the road in the first round of the North State Tournament at a site to be announced as the basketball game scores are reported.
They will play the No. 1 team in Region 1-3A.
The South Panola Tiger boys lost to Starkville in the championship round 51-40. The Tigers will be on the road to either Provine or Greenville for the first round of the North State Tournament Tuesday at 7 p.m.
