Dana Ferguson Myers

Local services for Dana Ferguson Myers, formerly of Batesville, will be Sunday with visitation at 2 p.m. at Dickins Funeral Home followed by Graveside Services at 4 p.m. at Magnolia Cemetery.

Services are being held Friday, October 31 at 1:30 p.m. at Fourth Presbyterian Church in Oak Park, Illinois where she served as Executive Associate Pastor. Visitation is Thursday, October 30 from 3-8 p.m. at Drechsler-Brown and Williams Funeral Home in Oak Park.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne Myers; two sons, Daniel Louis Myers and Taylor Lamar Myers, all of  Oak Park;  her mother, Betsy Ferguson of Batesville and one sister, Liz Ferguson of New Orleans.

Dickins Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.


Amanda Estelle Brooks

BATESVILLE- Amanda Estelle Brooks, 92, died Sunday, October 26, 2008, at Fairfield Assisted Living Center.

Services are today at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Kenneth Dyson and Rev. Charles Locke will officiate. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Brooks, born Dec. 26, 1915, in Pontotoc, to the late Andrew Milton and Susie Reynolds McGregory, was a member of First Baptist Church. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband John Barton Brooks.

Survivors include: one daughter, Pat Brooks Cole of Batesville; one son, John Larry Brooks of Pope; one sister, Danny McGregory Little of Pontotoc; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Marguerite Evans Crafton

HERNANDO- Marguerite Evans Crafton, 91, died Thursday, October 23, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.

Memorial services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Graceland Christian Church, 2126 State Line Rd. in Southaven. Dickins Funeral Home has charge.

Crafton was born March 5, 1917, to the late Mr. and Mrs. John Leslie Evans.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Crafton.

Survivors include: three sons, Ralph Crafton of Nesbit, Steve Crafton of Sardis and Richard Crafton of Memphis; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family requests that memorials be made to: Graceland Christian Church, John Crafton Memorial Scholarship Fund, 2126 State Line Road, Southaven.

Annie Lee Burks Moore

COLDWATER- Annie Lee Burks Moore, 75, died Sunday, October 26, 2008, at her residence.

Services are today at 2 p.m. at Dickins Funeral Home. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery in Pope. Dickins Funeral Home has charge.

Moore, born Nov. 6, 1932, to the late James Rubin Burks and the late Annie Grant Burks, was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Moore.

Survivors include: three daughters, Jeanette Strickland of Water Valley, Janice Manuel of Coldwater and Bonnie Lindsey of Coldwater; one son, Lee Hutchens of Arkabutla; one sister, Ollie May of Picayne; one brother, David Burks of Fryser, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Emerson “Sonny” Gene Penrod

BATESVILLE- Emerson “Sonny” Gene Penrod, 67, died Saturday, October 25, 2008, at his residence.

Memorial services are Saturday at 2 p.m. at the First Faith Baptist Church in Batesville. Terry Floyd will officiate. coleman Funeral Home has charge.

Penrod born in Moxahala, Ohio, was retired after 45 years as a truck driver. He received the 4,000,000 Mile Safety Award from the Indiana House of Representatives during his career. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a member of the American Legion and the 40/8, both in West Memphis, Ark. and Grumpy’s Round Table Coffee Club in Batesville.

Survivors include: his wife, Barbara Penrod of Batesville; two daughters, Tanya Caskill of Memphis and Susan Bingham of Nashville; four sisters, Rose Marie Scott and Ruthie McHenry, both of Zanesville, Ohio, Judy B. Larson of Cottage Grove, Minn. and Rondda Wright of Carroll, Ohio; one brother, Roger Penrod of Zanesville, Ohio and two grandchildren.

Brittany Samantha Simmons

WATER VALLEY- Brittany Samantha Simmons, 20, died Saturday, October 25, 2008.

Services were Monday at Seven Oaks Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Alexander and Rev. Fred Eakes officiated. Burial was in Turkey Creek Cemetery in Calhoun County. Seven Oaks Funeral Home had charge.

Simmons, born Aug. 27, 1988, in Grenada, to Charles Barry and Donna Stacy Simmons of Water Valley, was a graduate of Water Valley High School, a member of Bethel Baptist Church and a sales associate at Wal-Mart.

Survivors along with her parents include: one brother, Carlton Brantley Simmons of Water Valley; her grandparents, Charles Buddy and Bess Tubbs Simmons of Water Valley and Larry and Janice Stacy of Bruce; and great-grandparents, Nathalene Dempsey of Oxford, Robert Livingston of Water Valley and Dorothy Stacy of Water Valley.

Albert S. Young Sr.

CHARLESTON- Albert S. Young Sr., 60, died Friday, October 24, 2008. He was brother of Frankie Young of Courtland.

Services were Sunday at Newsom Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Sardis Lake Baptist Church Cemetery. Newsom Funeral Home has charge.

Young, born to the late Thomas and Sammie Young, was a truck driver.

Survivors along with his brother include: his wife, Sue Donaldson Young of Charleston; two daughters, Vicky Young Salha and Daffy Young Darby, both of Hernando; two sons, Albert Young Jr. and Chris Young of Charleston; seven sisters, Genevieve Couey of Lula, Willie Nadine Young of Southaven, Rose Mary Robinson of Drew, Fannie Wooten of Ruleville, Linda McFate of Hanover, Mich. and Bonnie Reece and Jenny Young of Boise, Idaho; one brother, Thomas O. Young of Cooter, Mo. and two grandchildren.
