Labor Day and Upcoming Events
Labor Day, Monday, September 1, marks the unofficial end to the summer season at Enid Lake.
Visitors to Enid Lake are encouraged to observe all safety rules and precautions when camping, swimming, boating or just enjoying the beautiful scenery at Enid Lake. The U.S. Army Corps of engineers would like to remind everyone to practice water safety by wearing your life jacket while participating in water related activities throughout the Labor Day Holiday Weekend. Remember “It only works, if you wear it.”
Hunting and Fishing enthusiasts need to mark their calendars for two special events that will be held at Enid Lake during September. These events include Physically Challenged Fishing Day, and Hunting and Fishing Day.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers along with the Chickasaw Hill Volunteer Association will host the 17th annual Physically Challenged Fishing Day, September 6. The event will take place at the Chickasaw Hill Boat Ramp beginning at 8 a.m.
After a morning of fishing everyone will return to the picnic shelter at the boat ramp to enjoy a good “old fashion” fish fry with all the trimmings and awarding of door prizes.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Enid Lake invites everyone to “Hunting and Fishing Day” scheduled at Riverview Recreation Area located below the dam at Enid Lake on September 27.
Activities will begin at 8 a.m. and end at 1:30 p.m. The day will be filled with hunting, fishing, and outdoor exhibits, along with musical entertainment, demonstrations, arts and crafts vendors, children events, concession stands, a youth fishing rodeo and prize give a ways.
Enid Lake Water Safety
With high school football kicking off, the Enid Lake Ranger Staff have partnered with area high schools including North Delta Academy, Strider Academy, North Panola, Water Valley, Charleston and Coffeeville High Schools to promote water safety throughout fall high school football season. High School Cheerleaders will be throwing miniature plastic footballs with Enid Lake’s Water Safety Logo and Safety Message “You can make a difference, wear your life jacket,” labeled on the side of the football.
We would like to thank the participating schools in helping promote water safety, and helping Enid Lake meet their goal in educating all potential visitors to Enid Lake about water safety. The Enid Lake Field Office would also like to wish area schools a safe and winning season.
