South Panola head football coach Lance Pogue has confirmed the September 19 game against Apopka, Fla. will be televised live on ESPNU.
“I think this is an exciting opportunity for our fans and the community,” Pogue said.
This will be the first time the Tigers will be able to highlight the new artificial turf field on national television. Also, the new press box is slated to be ready for the start of the season.
The time is set for 7 p.m. central.
New Coach
In other news, secondary coach Ben Ashley has left the Tiger coaching staff for an administrative position at Pontotoc Schools, according to Pogue.
“They just had a new baby and that is his hometown,” Pogue said. “They decided this was best for them at this time.”
Pogue said he immediately began a search for a replacement.
Season Tickets
The date to start selling season ticket has not been set by the school as of Thursday morning. Principal Dr. Gearl Loden and superintendent Dr. Keith Shaffer were out of town at a professional conference and not available to answer questions.
