ND Jr. High Wave remain undefeated

The North Delta junior high Green Wave remained undefeated when they traveled to Marvell, Ark. on Monday, September 17 to take on the district Marvell Eagles and came out with a 13-6 victory. This game was rescheduled from last Thursday night due to weather.

The captains for the Green Wave team were Tres Brassell, Michael Magee, and Robert Moore.

With 3:18 left in the first quarter, Tres Brassell scored on a 62-yard run and the PAT was good by Magee to give the Green a lead over the Eagles. A few minutes later, the Eagles fumbled the ball and Will Dunlap recovered for the Green Wave with 1:59 left in the first quarter. The first quarter ended with the Green Wave up 7-0.

To start the second quarter, the Green Wave had the ball on  the Eagles’ 27-yard line and scored a touchdown but it was called back.

The Eagles took over the ball on downs. On the Green Waves next possession,  Brassell scored with 4:39 on the clock but it was called back due to a blocking  penalty. With 1:16 on the clock, Jim Tom Copeland sacked the Eagles’ quarterback and the Eagles had to punt. The Green Wave led 7-0 at the half.

Chris Rodgers scored on a 65-yard run with 7:43 on the clock. With the PAT by Michael Magee the Green Wave led 13-0.

In the fourth quarter, the Eagles scored with 7:53 on the clock but failed to make the two-point conversion. This ended the scoring for the game.

Brassell had 11 carries for 97 yards and one touchdown. Chris Rodgers had nine carries for 89 yards with one touchdown. Bryan Nickle had 12 carries for 38 yards. Michael Magee had five carries for 11 yards, and John Cody Dalrymple had two rushes for four yards.

The Green Wave ended the game with 234 yards on 43 plays. They had five first downs, six penalties for 45 yards, and one fumble.

The Eagles had 113 yards rushing and 40 yards passing to give them a total offense of 153.

On the defense side of the ball for the Green Wave, Jim Tom Copeland lead with six tackles. Chase Bruce and Nickle had four each.  Brassell had three tackles, one pass breakup, and one interception. Corbin Baker had three tackles and one pass breakup. Anthony Pike and Carson Bailey also had tackles each. Dalrymple and Dunlap had two tackles each. Dunlap also recovered a fumble. Hunt Howell and Chris Rodgers had one tackle each.

The Green Wave junior high were back in action last night hosting another district team, the Tunica Blue Devils. The results were not known at press time.
