| Eagle survey date set |
| The annual mid-winter survey of the bald eagles at Sardis Lake will begin at 6 a.m. on Jan. 11.
At this time participants should gather at the Sardis Lake Field Office conference room for breakfast and position assignments.
Two boats will be provided for those who prefer to view from the water and volunteers are encouraged to bring boats as well. Others will form teams and drive to locations frequented by the eagles.
Numbers tallied each year vary according to the severity of the northern cold fronts and the presence of their favorite prey – waterfowl and fish.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites all ages to take part in the vital survey.

| Tigers lose to Lumberton in Christmas Classic |
|
|
The South Panola Tiger basketball team (3-7) fell to Lumberton 56-52 in the Biloxi Christmas Classic elimination tournament Thursday, Dec. 26.
The Tigers had a seven point lead at the end of the first quarter, 22-15, but Lumberton made some defensive headway in the second quarter. Lumberton outscored South Panola 10-8 in the second quarter to cut the halftime lead 30-25.
The second half was all Lumberton as they outscored the Tigers 31-22 to take a one-point lead at the end of the third quarter 45-44 and hold on for the win.
The Tigers will resume action Tuesday, Jan. 7, when they host Calhoun City following the Lady Tigers game at 6 p.m. The Lady Tigers are 4-5 overall, 1-1 district following a win over Olive Branch right before the Christmas holidays. |

| Green Wave resumes basketball action tonight |

| The North Delta basketball teams have been taken a few days off, but will be back in action tonight Jan. 3.
The Green Wave teams will travel to Lee, Ark. for games with the junior high and high school teams.
The varsity Lady Green Wave will resume the season with an 8-6 record. The varsity Green Wave is hoping to secure its first win tonight.
The junior high games begin at 3 p.m.
